1. The infestation of this pest occurs in the crop during the fruiting stage.
2. The female insect lays eggs on the calyx of flowers.
3. Caterpillars are formed from the eggs which bore holes inside the developed fruit.
4. The feces excreted by the caterpillar starts coming out of the hole made by the caterpillar.
5. The caterpillars feed on the pulp and seeds of the fruit, resulting in bacterial and fungal diseases as secondary infections.
