Dr. Bacto’s Combo is a liquid consortium of nitrogen-fixing, phosphate-solubilizing, and potassium-mobilizing bacteria.
Nitrogen fixation occurs in nature either due to lightning or nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Importance: Nitrogen-fixing bacteria are very important as they provide the plant with nitrogen and fertilize it. Nitrogen is very important because it is a major component of chlorophyll, the means by which plants use sunlight energy to make sugar from water and carbon dioxide (i.e., photosynthesis). It is also a major component of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins.
Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) are beneficial bacteria capable of solubilizing inorganic phosphorus from insoluble compounds. Important: Most phosphate fertilizers are not fully utilized by the plant. They get fixed in the soil and are never available to the plants.
