Ergosterols are not incorporated into growing fungal cell membranes without this demethylation step, and cellular development is halted.
Difenoconazole is a fungicide used to prevent disease in fruits and vegetables, cereals, and other field products. Although it is a potentially mobile molecule, due to its poor aqueous solubility, it is unlikely to leach. However, it has the possibility for particle-bound transport. It is mildly volatile and persistent in the earth and aquatic environments. There are some worries about its bioaccumulation potential.
