Dr. Bactose Meta is a biological insecticide containing Metarhizium anisopliae, a parasitic fungus. Metarhizium anisopliae is a unique biological insecticide. Metarhizium anisopliae is an entomopathogenic fungus that causes muscadine disease on a range of insects like different bugs, weevils, and hoppers.
The spores of this fungus, when they come in contact with the cuticle (skin) of insects, germinate and grow directly through the cuticle to the inner body of their host. The fungus spreads throughout the insect's body and drains nutrients, eventually killing the insect. It secretes specific enzymes that cause insects to die gradually under favorable conditions.
