Dr. Bactose Brave (Beauveria bassiana) is a biological insecticide containing the Beauveria bassiana parasitic fungus.
Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungus that causes white muscadine illness in a variety of insects, such as whiteflies, aphids, thrips, grasshoppers, and several beetles. It differs from Nosema locustae in that it does not require the host to consume it; B. bassiana spores just need to come into contact with one.

Once within the host insect, the fungus rapidly multiplies, feasting on the nutrients in the host's body and creating poisons in the process. When the host dies, B. bassiana coats the corpse in a layer of white mould, which produces more infective spores.

Beauveria bassiana, which is found naturally in soils throughout the world, is mostly employed to target foliar pests, as many soil dwelling pests have developed natural resistance to B. bassiana due to its wide variety of native habitats.
