Brinjal is a resilient crop that may be cultivated in a variety of soil types. Because it is a long-duration crop, it requires well-drained fertile sandy loam soil that is well-suited for cultivation and yield. Light soils are ideal for early cropping, and silt loams are ideal for high-yielding clay loam. The pH of the soil should be between 5.5 and 6.6 for optimum growth.
The soil should be adequately prepared before transplantation by deep ploughing 4-5 times and levelling. Before transplanting, beds of an appropriate size are formed in the field after it has been carefully prepared and levelled.
Irrigate the field every third or fourth day during the summer and every 12 to 15 days in the winter. For high brinjal yields, timely irrigation is critical. Brinjal farms should be irrigated on a regular basis to keep the soil moist during freezing days. Brinjal cannot withstand water logging, therefore avoid standing water in the field.
