Product Description -
Nemastin is a beneficial fungus commonly found in soil and plant root zones (rhizosphere). Known for its biocontrol properties, it is extensively used in sustainable agriculture to manage plant pathogens, including Nematodes, Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, Pythium, and Sclerotium. Nemastin is an aggressive colonizer of root surfaces as well as the rhizosphere. When applied at the time of sowing, it can protect plants from pathogen colonization and infection through competitive exclusion.
Mode of Action -
➔ Mycoparasitism & Predation: Nemastin can attach to nematode eggs or juveniles and parasitize them by secreting lytic enzymes (like chitinases and proteases) that degrade their outer layers.
➔ Antibiosis: Produces secondary metabolites and toxins that are harmful to nematodes, inhibiting their growth, mobility, and reproduction.
➔ Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR): Activates the plant’s own immune system, making it more resistant to nematode invasion.
➔ Competition for Space and Nutrients: Nemastin colonizes the rhizosphere and root surface aggressively, leaving less space and fewer resources for nematodes to survive.
➔ Improvement in Root Health: Promotes healthy root growth and wound healing, making roots less susceptible to nematode entry.
